Mike,
It doesn't get that cold where I live know, but I'm from Michigan. When I was in school, I had this guy in one of my classes who road year round (even when it was down into the teens!). He swore by a full face helmet w/no fog shield and integral neck gator, and a snowmobile suit. Snowmobile suits are roomy and have zippers that open the things up really well (so you can get in and out easy). Good, windproof, mittens are also a must. I believe snowmobile stuff is almost perfect in all regards. The only trouble is boots, which can be too bulky for shifting purposes. There are also heated undershirts (battery or rig a lighter-type plug up) that some of the touring guys wear. Good luck!
